DESULTOR (Sweden) “Masters of Hate” CD / LP review

By Alberto Vitale

(Abyss Records) They are Swedish and are published by the American label. They are Swedish and have only two, the guitarist and singer Markus and drummer Michael Ibrahim Joha. They are Swedish and until now had only made ??two demos. They are Swedish and have not only this. The Desultor have played an album of progressive death metal, where the violent brutality is typical Swedish tendency to know how to put songs in the ocean of nastiness. Besides, there is also a good dose of pathos, especially in the voice (and clean vocals) of Joha reminiscent of Warrel Dane of Nevermore. The songs are Desultor violence, chaos and high-sounding melodies that elevate each piece to incredible and this is because of the vocals, guitar solos and the various steps and changes that each carries within itself. Every single song is a scene of unprecedented power, as well of unbelievable beauty. Each song is an amazing metamorphosis of steps and wisely managed by swirling guitars (the ranges in thrash riffing, in the death metal solutions in Scandinavian and American) and a drumming perfect (pity about the sound too compressed). They are damn good and Ibrahim Joha and “Master of Hate” is a compendium of death metal, progressive and an endless pursuit of melodies and atmospheres that capture from start to finish. Also the songs survive on an average minutes 3 and a half, this means to assimilate the pieces with ease, because they come to the point. Wonderful!
