1. Can i get a backstory on the band/ band biography?

I find the history of bands to be completely boring.

2. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

There is no “us”. At one point there were two members on the full length Tyrants and Men but i despise working with other people and prefer to write and record completely alone. For drums i work with the accomplished drummer from Demonical, Fredrik Widigs. Back to the lyrical message. Many of the songs up until now are based on hatred for politicians and the world that is controlled by these disgusting wastes of breath. Also alot of my lyrics are fueled by a contempt for humanity….misanthropy.

3. How have the gigs you guys been doing been?

None. TYW does not perform live and im not sure if i want to now. There was a time when i did but the feelings have faded seeing the kind of pathetic attention starved shit shows that are put on. Maybe if there could be some shows set up that exemplified the true nature of metal and play for some genuine fans then i would be interested.

4. What equipment do you guys use?

I play Krashburn guitars exclusively because they are the best in the world!!!! For my last recording “Doom Rides These Mountains” i played through a jcm800 and a mesa boogie tri rec.

5. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?

I would say for the first two albums it has been some melodic death like amon amarth and kataklysm along with some hellenic melodic bm like rotting christ and also some satyricon and immortal. Now i listen to and am inspired by more underground black metal like naer mataron, leviathan, mutilation, nagelfar, striborg and so on. Even though im satisfied with our first sort of melodic death/black records im not really listening to or playing melodic death anymore.

6. Do you remember your first show and what was it like?

I remember it being a savage punk show deep in the woods. It was phenomenal, dark, and eerie. There were violent mosh pits and a trailer that had been torn apart and continued to be torn apart. Chaos and absolute destruction. I sang as a guest with a band to a song called world war 3 which comprised of me screaming ww3 over and over again. The show ended by some fuckhead redneck shooting up the place and me and my friends running through the woods with equipment. Thats fun, not some shitty corporate crap fest sponsored by scion!

7. What made you guys decide to form a band?

I decided to form tyw as an expression of my misanthropy and contempt for the modern world while in deep isolation from humanity in Alaska. Its become a couple different things but has come back to what i just described. Music and writing lyrics are my absolute lifeblood and passion. Sometimes if brings me joy writing lyrics and often i feel it tears my soul apart and makes me grind my teeth down.

8. What is your opinion on sites posting your guys material and other bands material?

If they are offering my music i sacrificed everything for to be downloaded for free they are not fans and thieving scum. But if they are making promo videos and convincing other fans to BUY my music…they are brothers and sisters to me.

9. Is there any bands that you guys enjoyed playing with more then the others?

Never played with any….but im sure i wouldnt get along with or associate much with them. I just dont get along with humans and prefer animals/nature for my company.

10. How do you guys feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres and how some get a negative rep.

I feel the same about these genres you have mentioned above exactly the same as i do about lady gaga, eminem, or 50 cent. Just as i dont know or dont care about those corporate soulless puppets i dont give a shit about dumbasses that play uninspired and equally shitty music like deathcore/metalcore.

11. What song do you enjoy playing the most?

Our song Tyrants and Men is incredibly fun to play…intense song!

12. When not doing things with the band, what can you guys be seen doing?

No one needs to know what i do aside from music

13. Your biggest band moment?

My biggest band moment has nothing to do with great reviews and features but being in the woods freezing and alone writing a riff that feels magical and links me to something spiritual and hard to describe. These big moments are personal…maybe people that listen to my music will feel what ive felt alone in the woods or desolate warzone…maybe even throwing a molotov cocktail or murdering a politician. I can only hope.

14. What is your opinion on the current state of metal?

Its repulsive, plastic, and fake. Its similar to a mega church or a strip mall. No feeling…just a bunch of insects vying for attention. Now that is in reference to what most shitheads think is metal. Followers of pantera, metallica, suicide silence, lamb of god, the faceless…ect. but the true metal underground is magical, archaic, and filthy. Its still alive and always alive. Abyss records has helped that!

15. How did you guys come up with your band name?

Thousand Year War is an extension of the hundreds year war and sometimes i think it has to do with how much work and effort it takes to make an album. Its like a Thousand Year War.

16. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

A nastier sound….cult music from the underground….more black metal magic.
