SINCERA (Norway) “Cursed and Proud” DIGI CD review

By Pestifer

Sincera is a side project with members from fra Fester, Algol and Decipher ++. They play a mixture between black/death and thrash metal.

On “Cursed and Proud” we get 5 studio tracks, where one of them is a bonus track in the form of an intro for the norwegian wrestler Byron Lawless, plus fire live tracks recorded in Sarpsborg in 2006.

The studio tracks were recorded back in 2005, but they do sound fresh. They are manifoldly and well played songs with a very grim and cool vocal. My personal favourites has to be “A Grievers Soul” and “Cursed” since they probably stand out the most from the rest both musically and vocal wise.

The live part of the album continues in the same style as the studio tracks and it does sound good, however it’s not as easy to capture all the details since these tracks were recorded with a handheld video camera. But it still sounds good and it would be even better if they included the video tracks as well.

The studio tracks makes me wanna hear more and the live tracks makes me wanna see the band live. So I guess the album has done it’s job. A 5 on the studio part of the album and a 4 on the live bit, due to the sound, so i’ll guess we’ll meet halfway in total.

Rating: 4.5/6
