ROCKING CORPSES (Finland) “Rock ‘n’ Rott” CD review

By Cobal

Well, well… Another death’n‘roll fresh project, uh? Many would say there’s no room in this world for another one, but then again, there ain’t room for anymore acts of any fucken style, right? Clean and harsh vocals in this one work for it to be a double-faced creature: it both works as a rocker death metal and as a hard rock album, except this guys added something that was fully unexpected.

Along the whole record, there’s quite a few moments when a horror punk-like sound will appear, and hell, did I enjoy that fusion! To tell you the truth, it makes all sense in the world to sing about zombies bringing both Barnes’ and Danzig’s conceptual works together. Why those metal police idiots moderating The Metal Archives have blacklisted Rocking Corpses is beyond me.

Rock’n‘rott could have definitely used a few more guitar solos, especially when it also flirts with a Motörhead-like feeling, and it’s a little bit too short. Not a must, but it won’t ever hurt to check it out.

7/10: Seven zombies chasing the same overweight fag, meaning ‘twas almost too easy to predict.
